SURF! That sport that is not a sport but a lifestyle, a way to connect with nature and to smile! If you have surfed before, you might know already how addictive it is, and how different are the waves.
Everyone is different that is why there are different surf spots for everyone, do you want to know where is your perfect wave?
For the first timers:
If you have never surfed before, it is important that you start in the right place and you are not
suffering fighting against the current on a freezing water on your first day as it could make you start hating surf from day one. If you are a beginner, it is always recommended to learn in beach breaks, which are safer than reef sharp breaks and smooth waves where it is easy to start standing up in the surfboard. Byron Bay in Australia is one of the places where you would fall in love with surfing! It is a surfer town with great atmosphere and beautiful nature landscapes, and the best, the water is warm all year round, so you will not need a thick wetsuit in the water. There are many surf spots in Byron Bay, but our favourite for beginners is The Pass a long right-handed wave smooth and perfect for the first waves!
For the tropical hearts:
Are you one of those fans of paradise beaches, coconuts, and surfing in bikini? Then Sri Lanka is your place! There are waves for all levels and the swell moves from the east to the west coast of the island depending on the season. Midigama is more a street than a town which offers a laid back and quiet environment in the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Here you will find one of the top waves of Sri Lanka Lazy Left good for intermediate and advanced surfers.
Tropical waves are fun but watch out! a lot of the surf spots have reef underneath.
For the adventurers:
Have you ever thought about surfing in Africa? For those who constantly seek adventures, we
recommend a trip to Morocco. A shock of culture, food, and environment but also a surprise with
the great waves you can find! In a small, tiny village called Imsouane you can find the longest right wave of Africa, The Bay, a paradise for longboarders with breath-taking views in the middle of the desert.
For the Surf Pros:
Surfing was originated in Hawaii more than two centuries ago and nowadays it is still one of the
best-known places for surfers coming from all around the world! The archipelago offers different
surf breaks, Pipeline is undoubtedly the most popular surf spot on the world and one of the most
dangerous too. It is famous for its huge shallow waves breaking in sharp reef which creates beautiful barrels, and it is the location of the Pipe Master competition of the World Surf League, only for experts!
For the XXL:
Another famous spot for advanced surfers is Nazaré, in Portugal. Here you can find the biggest
waves of the world, and indeed the biggest wipe outs too. Even if you are not on the level to ride
giant waves it is worthy to watch other surfers from the lighthouse cliff beating the World Record of the biggest wave surfed. In smaller swells can be surfed by intermediate surfers but remember that the Atlantic Ocean is not as warm and you will still need to wear a wetsuit all year round!
¿CUÁL ES TU OLA PERFECTA?
SURF! Ese deporte que no es sólamente un deporte, si no que es un estilo de vida, una forma de conectar con la naturaleza y sonreír! Si has surfeado anteriormente, es posible que ya sepas lo adictivo que es lo diferentes que pueden a llegar a ser las olas.
Cada surfer es diferente, por eso hay diferentes surf spots para cada uno, ¿te gustaría saber cuál es tu ola perfecta?
Para los primerizos:
Si es tu primera vez sobre una tabla es importante que empieces en el lugar correcto y no un día de condiciones duras, luchando contra la corriente, a temperaturas gélidas, porque, puedes acabar odiando el surf en tu día uno. Si eres principiante siempre es recomendable empezar a surfear en playas de arena (beach breaks) más seguras que los fondos afilados de arrecifes, y siempre buscando olas suaves y fáciles para empezar a levantarte en la tabla poco a poco. Byron Bay, en Australia es uno de esos lugares en los que te enamorarás del surf. Es un pequeño pueblo de ambiente surfero y hermosos paisajes naturales, y lo mejor! El agua está templada todo el año, no es el Caribe, pero nunca necesitarás un neopreno grueso en el agua. Hay muchos lugares para surfear en Byron Bay pero nuestro favorito para los que estén aprendiendo es The Pass una derecha suave y larga perfecta para coger tus primeras olas.
Para los de alma tropical:
¿Eres de esos fanáticos de las playas paradisíacas, los cocos y el surf en bikini? Entonces Sri Lanka es tu sitio. Hay olas para todos los niveles y el swell se mueve de costa este a oeste de la isla según la temporada. Midigama es más una calle que una ciudad que ofrece un ambiente relajado y tranquilo en la costa sur del país. Aquí encontrarás una de las mejores olas de Sri Lanka, Lazy Left ideal para surfistas intermedios y avanzados. Las olas tropicales son divertias, pero ¡cuidado con los fondos de coral!
Para los más aventureros:
¿Has pensado alguna vez en surfear en África? Para aquellos que buscan aventuras constantemente os recomendamos un surftrip a Marruecos. ¡Un choque cultural y gastronómico pero también una sorpresa en cuanto a olas! En una diminuta aldea muy especial llamada Imsouane puedes encontrar la derecha más larga de África, The Bay, un paraíso para los longboarders con vistas impresionantes al desierto.
Para los Surf Pro:
El surf se originó en Hawaii hace más de dos siglos y hoy en día sigue siendo uno de los lugares más conocidos para los surfistas de todo el mundo. El archipiélago ofrece diferentes olas de surf, pero sin duda Pipeline es la ola más popular en todo el mundo, aunque también la más peligrosa. Pipeline debe su fama a sus enormes olas que rompen con fuerza en arrecifes afilados creando hermosos tubos siendo también el escnario de competiciones mundioales de la World Surf League como el Pipe Master, ¡Sólo apto para expertos!
Para los XXL: Otro lugar famoso para los surfistas de nivel alto es Nazaré, en Portugal. Aquí puedes encontrar las olas más grandes del mundo, y por supuesto los mayores wipe outs también. Incluso si no te ves capacitado para entrar en este spot de olas gigantes merece la pena la visita a Nazaré para ver a otros surfistas desde el acantilado del faro batiendo el récord mundial de la ola más grande surfeada. Con swells pequeños, los surfistas intermedios pueden pasárselo bien, pero no te olvides que el Océano Atlántico no es tan cálido y seguramente necesites usar un traje de neopreno por mucho que sea verano.
